Extension Hair Care
Below is some of my favorite tips to protect your extension investment. Applying these simple tips to your daily routine will help enhance the life of your new beautiful inches.

01
Brushing

Use a Wet brush or Boar bristle brush daily to remove any knots or tangles
• simply section your hair into two sections( or more if need be), and hold extensions in place while brushing working from your ends towards the top.
• Be mindful of where your extensions are placed. You can brush near the point of installation, but do not brush over the top of them
• Always brush before getting them wet to reduce excess tangles.

02
Washing
Start by brushing your hair before they get wet
• Always use a salon quality sulfate and paraben-free shampoo and conditioner. Do not use purple shampoo on blonde extensions.
• Wash hair in a “Z” formation, do not wash hair in a circular motion or flip hair upside down it will cause excess tangles.
• Apply conditioner to the mids and ends of your hair. Do not apply to the point of installation.
• Make sure you have a water softener ( I have provided a link to my favorite shower head attachment that can be found under “Emily’s must haves” section.)

Drying
03
Towel/ Air dry your hair as much as possible before using a blow dryer.
• Use a heat protectant, leave in conditioner, or hair serum from mids to ends before drying.
•Use a blow dryer and rough dry as much as possible before going through your hair with a round brush to avoid tangles.
• ALWAYS make sure the top of your wefts are completely dry to avoid matting, excess tangles, and compromising the integrity of the weft.
• After working out, you must separate each row (or section depending on the method you have) and dry the sweat 100%. This is the same thing as leaving your hair wet.
04
Styling
Before heat styling always make sure you have applied a heat protectant to your hair.
• When using styling tools, make sure you are able to adjust the heat setting on the iron. Never allow your iron to go over 450 degrees. I usually recommend a temperature of 350 degrees.
• Never allow the iron to sit directly on your hair for an extended period of time, this will help avoid thermal damage.

05
Sleeping

Before bed always brush hair to remove tangles.
• Apply a serum or oil to your mids and ends to keep them hydrated.
• Sleep with hair in a low pony, or braid to help reduce tangles while sleeping. Use a coiled hair tie, or scrunchy to avoid tension.
• Use a silk pillow case to avoid breakage from sleeping.
06
Swimming & Sunscreens
Before swimming, wet your hair with tap water and apply a small amount to your mids and ends, This will help protect your extensions from absorbing chlorine and act as a protective barrier.
• keep hair in a lose pony or braid.
• Once you are done swimming rinse hair with tap water, and apply leave in conditioner. If able it is highly recommended to shampoo, and condition after swimming if able.
• Use only mineral based sunscreens. Chemical sunscreens can cause your hair to be discolored.
